Ami Everett
As a marine scientist, Ami specializes in studying the marine life found on the most unlikely of reef habitats – offshore oil & gas platforms. Her infatuation with understanding how these structures function as de facto artificial reefs began in the Gulf of Mexico where she spent countless hours diving and conducting field work around these giants.
After receiving a M.S. in Fisheries from Auburn University, Ami has continued to examine how rigs function as reefs. She is currently working to inform ‘Rigs to Reefs’ programs around the world by assessing the value of offshore energy infrastructure as fisheries resources.
As an advocate for exploring novel opportunities for ocean conservation, Ami approaches conservation with the motto of “seeing is believing” and diving gives the opportunity to put that motto into practice.
